The Auteur Theory

Standard

Always the director.
And I the actress in your drama.
This is the scene where she tells her secrets.
And this is the one where he gains her trust.
Oh, this is the moment she starts to realize…
But let’s cut to the part where he’s breaking her heart.
And recasting the role in a matter of days.

Perhaps it was the lines I was misreading.
Perhaps I wasn’t right for the part.
Perhaps nothing was there to be fleeting.
Perhaps this just isn’t my form of art.

Well the director holds his control.
And this star is through with shining.
Let the ingenue learn her lines.
Just give her the new piece you’ve been writing.
When he cuts to the part where he’s breaking her heart –
I don’t care to know who else they’ll be casting.

The Reasons Why

Standard

To whisper sweet nothings and leave this itch to be scratched.
To douse me in gasoline and then hand me the match.
To partake in my soul, with nothing to give.
To treat me of something of value which you need to be rid.
To not see who I am now and only focus on then.
To not understand how I could never just be your friend.
To preach of morality and values with a glassy eyed stare.
Yet to replace me in three days, without so much as a care.
To see you go running back to yet another “skinny whore”.
Only to watch and wonder what the Hell was I fighting for?
